Imagine planning marriage formation with an ongoing stream of real input from the husbands and wives you serve.
You would still make ministry decisions. You would still work within your mission, Catholic teaching, available resources, and pastoral priorities.
But you would be guessing less.
You might discover that couples want help with something your current calendar barely addresses. You might learn that a program people value is offered at the wrong time or in a format that makes participation difficult. You might see different concerns emerging among newlyweds, parents of young children, or couples married much longer.
You might also discover that something you assumed was a problem is not the problem couples are describing at all.
Regular input makes ministry more adaptive.
That does not require constant surveys. Feedback can become part of accompaniment through conversations, structured check-ins, community interaction, or simple recurring questions.
Marriage Every Day is designed around the idea that ongoing formation should stay connected to the lived experience of couples. Listening is part of that relationship.
The value is not merely better programming. Couples who are asked thoughtful questions can experience the ministry differently because their married life is being taken seriously.
What a ministry can do with this
- Identify one decision currently being made largely from assumption and ask couples for input before finalizing it.
- Create a recurring question that can be asked throughout the year.
- Separate feedback about content from feedback about timing, format, and accessibility.

Where we are now
What ministry decisions are we currently making without much direct input from married couples?
Where we could go
If we had better ongoing insight from couples, what is the first area of our ministry we might reconsider?
